A heartfelt "Thank You" to Shaadi.com for introducing us! Amal and I first started chatting after finding each other on the website in December 2008. Because Amal is currently finishing up law school in Virginia, about three-hours away from Maryland where I live and work, we initially communicated through email and then gradually by telephone. After Amal finished his December exams, we met for dinner in Washington DC, before he left to go to India with his family for a three week trip. After he returned, we resumed our communication, meeting frequently, including a memorable Valentine's Day date to a local farm, where Amal took me horseback riding and brought along a picnic brunch that he had cooked himself. I was pretty much sold at this stage! March 2009 became a whirlwind month, when he was in Maryland for his spring break and we were able to spend a lot more time getting to know each other and meeting each other's families. After a seal of approval from both sides, Amal surprised me with a speedy proposal whilst we were on a hiking trip and I of course accepted. Our formal engagement ceremony was on March 28th, 2009 with our wedding now being planned. Amal says that his specific goal for that spring break was to ?woo? me. I have to say, it was a resounding success! Thank you to Shaadi.com for providing a portal for Indian-American professionals such as Amal and I, to be able to find each other in an independent yet safe manner. You offer a valuable service in allowing cultured and quality people to discover each other, and hopefully our story is a testament to that.
